St.
Peter's Church, Over Wallop
St
Peter’s Church in Over Wallop is part of the Diocese of Winchester. It is a mainly traditional village Church with a
Choir of six to ten. The incumbent is absent due to illness and the Reader plans the pattern of worship. Currently St Peter’s
uses a Digital Hymnal for hymns and cds of organ music for before/after each service. St Peters is part of a website at www.thewallops.net
The
main hymnbook in use is Mission Praise with occasional use of Hymns Ancient and Modern Revised, and Hundred Hymns for Today.
Hymns are chosen monthly in advance by the Reader to follow the service theme. Playing for one choir practice at 6.00 pm on
the Tuesday before the first Sunday of each month would be helpful but not essential. All music is supplied apart from the
organist’s own selection for before and after each service. Please feel free to contact me (Colin Gillespie –
Reader) at reader0351@yahoo.co.uk

I
will need contact details (+email if possible) and a brief description of the amount of playing required. Many churches are
in need of organists and with an increase in the number of young organists looking for places to practise and gain experience
in service playing, we could increase the chances of finding someone by using this page.
With
regular courses for 'Volunteer Organists' at Sarum College and a growing number of young pupils taking regular lessons, we
are steadily building a network of organists available for service playing. As this page grows, the list of vacancies
and available players will be added to.
